Glossary / Semantic search
What is Semantic search?
Semantic search matches the meaning behind a query rather than its exact words, which is why synonyms and phrasing no longer need to match.
Early search engines matched strings. Modern ones try to understand what was meant, so a page about reducing customer churn can answer a search for how to stop people cancelling without containing that phrase.
This is why keyword density stopped mattering and why writing naturally started working. Repeating an exact phrase adds nothing once the engine understands the concept.
What it rewards instead is covering the concept properly: the related ideas, the questions that follow, the words real people use. Breadth of meaning beats repetition of a string.
In Creaiter
Creaiter's keyword research groups terms by the intent behind them, so a page covers a meaning rather than chasing one exact phrase.
