What is Search volume?
Search volume is how many times a keyword gets searched each month, on average. It tells you how big the audience for a topic is.
SEO tools estimate monthly searches for any phrase. 'Coffee' might show hundreds of thousands. 'Organic decaf subscription' might show a few hundred. Both numbers are averages and estimates, not counts.
High volume is not automatically good. It usually brings vague intent and heavy competition. Low volume with buying intent can be worth far more to a small business.
Watch for seasonality. 'Tax help' and 'pool cleaning' spike in their seasons, so an annual average can mislead your planning.
