Glossary / Internal linking

What is Internal linking?

Internal linking is linking your own pages to each other. It helps readers find the next thing and shows search engines which of your pages matter.

Every link between your own pages does two jobs at once. It gives a reader somewhere useful to go next, and it tells search engines that the linked page deserves attention.

Pages with many internal links pointing at them read as important. That is how a pillar page earns its weight: a dozen related posts all point back to it. A page with no internal links is an orphan, and orphans stay unfound.

Link where it genuinely helps, using anchor text that names the destination. A block of twenty links pasted at the bottom of every post is noise, and readers learn to scroll past it.

In Creaiter

Creaiter keeps everything you have published in one library, so you can see which older posts a new draft should point to.
