A pillar page is one long, definitive guide to a broad topic, linking out to detailed articles on each subtopic. It anchors a topic cluster.
A pillar page covers a big topic end to end, like 'The complete guide to email marketing'. It gives a useful overview of every subtopic, then links to a dedicated article on each one.
The structure helps both readers and search engines. Readers get one place to start. Search engines see a connected set of pages that together signal deep expertise on the topic.
Build the pillar after a few subtopic articles exist, so it has something to link to. Update it whenever you publish a new piece in the cluster.
