Glossary / Engagement metrics

What is Engagement metrics?

Engagement metrics measure how people interact with your content: likes, comments, shares, saves, clicks, replies, time spent.

Engagement is the family of numbers that sits between someone seeing your content and someone buying. A like, a comment, a share, a save, a reply, a click through to your site. All of it counts.

Platforms weight them differently, and so should you. A share or a save usually means more than a like, because it costs the person more effort and puts your content in front of people who do not follow you.

Engagement is a means, not an end. A post with 400 likes and no clicks entertained people. That is fine if awareness was the goal and a problem if you needed sales. Decide which number you are chasing before you celebrate one.
