Glossary / Email preheader
What is Email preheader?
The preheader is the preview text next to your subject line in the inbox. It is a second headline, and most senders waste it on 'View in browser'.
Open an inbox and each message shows three things: who it is from, the subject line, and a snippet of text. That snippet is the preheader. If you do not set it, the app grabs whatever your email happens to start with.
That default is why so many emails preview as 'View in browser' or 'If you cannot see images'. It is prime inbox space spent on nothing. Treat it as the second half of a two-part sentence with the subject line.
Keep it short, because phones cut it off early. Do not repeat the subject line. Add the detail the subject left out: the deadline, the number, the reason to open now.
In Creaiter
Ask Creaiter to write a campaign email and it drafts the subject line and the opening line together, which is what most inboxes preview.
