What is Email automation?

Email automation sends the right message on a trigger instead of by hand: a welcome on signup, a follow-up after a purchase, a nudge after silence.

Manual email means somebody remembers to write it and press send. Automated email means you set the rule once and it runs from then on. 'When a contact joins the newsletter segment, send the welcome, then wait three days.'

Most of it is built from three pieces: a trigger, a condition, and an action. Chain those together and you get a journey, which is really just a flowchart of emails that runs itself.

Start with two automations, not ten. A welcome sequence and one post-purchase follow-up cover most of the value. Add more only once the first two are earning their keep.
