Glossary / Opt-in
What is Opt-in?
An opt-in is a person actively agreeing to receive your email. Permission is what separates a marketing list from a pile of addresses.
Someone ticks the box, submits the form, or confirms the email. That deliberate yes is an opt-in. Buying a list, scraping addresses, or adding people because they emailed you once are not opt-ins, whatever the seller claims.
Make the ask specific. 'Send me the monthly maintenance tips' sets an expectation you can keep. A vague 'stay in touch' leaves people surprised when your third email of the week arrives.
Keep the evidence: where they signed up, when, and what they agreed to. It settles complaints, and privacy rules in several regions expect you to be able to show it.
In Creaiter
Creaiter keeps unsubscribed and suppressed contacts out of every send, so a permission that gets withdrawn stays withdrawn.
