Glossary / Google Analytics
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a free tool from Google that reports who visits your website, where they came from, and what they do while they are there.
You add a small piece of code to your site and Google Analytics starts recording visits. It shows traffic sources, popular pages, devices, countries, and whatever actions you have told it to count as conversions.
The current version is GA4, and it is built around events rather than page loads. Almost everything is an event: a page view, a scroll, a click, a purchase. That is more flexible and less familiar than the old version, which is why the reports look strange to people who learned the previous one.
Its numbers will never match your ad platform or your shopping cart exactly. Blocked scripts, cookie banners, and different definitions of a conversion pull the totals apart. Use it for trends and comparisons, not as an accounting record.
In Creaiter
Creaiter connects to Google Analytics and Search Console, then explains the charts in plain language instead of leaving you inside the reports.
