Glossary / Conversion rate

What is Conversion rate?

Conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who take the action you wanted, like buying or signing up. It measures whether your marketing works.

Traffic is only potential. Conversion is the moment a visitor becomes a subscriber, a lead, or a customer. If 200 people visit and 6 book a call, your conversion rate is 3 percent.

Define the conversion before you measure it. For an online store it is a purchase. For a service business it might be a booked estimate or a submitted form. One page can have different conversions than another.

Small changes move it: a clearer headline, a shorter form, a stronger call to action, proof that others bought. Test one change at a time so you know what worked.
