Glossary / Bounce rate

What is Bounce rate?

Bounce rate is the share of visitors who leave your site after viewing only one page. A high rate can mean the page did not match what they wanted.

Someone lands on your page, looks around, and leaves without clicking anything else. That is a bounce. Bounce rate is the percentage of visits that end this way.

A high bounce rate is not always bad. If someone finds your phone number and calls you, that visit did its job. Context matters more than the raw number.

Worry when a page built to lead somewhere, like a landing page, bounces heavily. That usually means the headline overpromised, the page loads slowly, or the next step is unclear.
