Glossary / Technical SEO
What is Technical SEO?
Technical SEO is the plumbing: whether search engines can crawl, render, and index your site, and whether it loads fast and works on a phone.
Content and links get the attention, but neither works if the plumbing leaks. Technical SEO covers crawlability, indexing, speed, how the site renders on a phone, redirects, canonical tags, sitemaps, and HTTPS.
Most small sites need this checked once, fixed, and then left alone. Problems show up after a redesign, a platform switch, or a migration, which is exactly when nobody is looking for them.
Search Console is the free early warning system. Watch the Pages report for a rise in not-indexed addresses, and the Core Web Vitals report for pages slipping into the red. Both point you somewhere before traffic drops.
