Glossary / Social listening
What is Social listening?
Social listening is monitoring what people say about you, your competitors, and your category online, then acting on what you hear.
It goes past your notifications. Plenty of mentions never tag you: someone asking for a recommendation in a group, a review on another site, a complaint that spells your name wrong. Listening is how you find those.
The useful output is not a mention count. It is the phrase customers keep using for their problem, the objection that comes up again and again, and the competitor complaint that describes a gap you could fill.
Set alerts for your brand name, common misspellings, your competitors, and two or three phrases customers use. Then check them on a schedule instead of constantly.
