Glossary / Content refresh

What is Content refresh?

A content refresh is updating an existing page instead of writing a new one. It is usually the cheapest way to win back traffic you lost.

Pages decay. Prices change, screenshots go stale, better competitors publish, and the page slips down the results. A refresh fixes the facts, adds what is missing, and cuts what no longer applies.

Start with pages that used to do well and no longer do. They already have links and history working for them, so a good update often moves faster than a brand new post.

Change the substance, not just the date. Swapping the year in the title without touching the content fools nobody, including search engines.
