How to Connect GA4 and Search Console to Creaiter
Written and checked by The Creaiter team
Creaiter can report on how your marketing is doing, but only with your numbers. Connect Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console and the reporting stops being generic advice and starts being about your site.
The two answer different questions. Search Console covers what people searched for before they arrived and where you ranked. GA4 covers what they did once they were on the site. You want both, and each takes a few minutes.
Why connect analytics at all
Without a connection the chat can still research, write, and publish. It just cannot tell you whether any of it worked, and it should not pretend otherwise. A language model with no data source will happily estimate your traffic, and that number would be decoration.
With a connection the questions change shape. Which posts are actually getting search traffic, and what are we ranking on page two for, become answerable from your own data. Keyword work gets anchored to terms you already show up for instead of a generic list.
What you need first
Sort these out before you start, because the connection flow will ask for them and guessing is how you end up linked to the wrong site.
- 01A Google account with access to the properties you want to connect. Read access is enough for reporting.
- 02A GA4 property that is already collecting data. If GA4 went live on your site two days ago, expect thin numbers.
- 03A verified Search Console property for the same site. Verification happens in Search Console, not in Creaiter.
- 04The exact property picked out in advance. Many accounts hold several, including old Universal Analytics leftovers, and the names look alike.
Connecting the two
Both connections live in Settings alongside your other integrations. Start the connection, sign in with the Google account that has access, and grant the permissions Google asks for. Google's consent screen lists exactly what is being shared, and that list is the real answer to what Creaiter can see.
After signing in you choose which property to link. Slow down here. If you pick the wrong property the reports will look completely real and be about someone else's site.
Connect Search Console and GA4 separately. Connecting one does not connect the other, even though both use the same Google account.
Once connected, check the state in Settings, then confirm it for real by asking the chat for a number you can check against Google directly.
What Creaiter reads
Creaiter reads reporting data. It is a reader, not an editor.
- 01From Search Console: the queries people used, impressions, clicks, and your average position.
- 02From GA4: traffic and behavior data for the property you linked, such as how many people arrived and which pages they visited.
- 03Nothing else. It does not change your Google configuration, create goals, or edit tags.
What the reports show once data arrives
With both connected, reporting pulls from your properties and the chat can explain what changed in plain language instead of dropping a table on you. Ask in the chat rather than hunting through screens. What got the most search traffic last month, and which of our posts lost position since June, are the shape of question this is for.
- 01Which pages and queries are bringing search traffic, and which are flat.
- 02Where you sit for terms you care about, alongside the SERP rank tracking Creaiter does on its own.
- 03How a published post performed after it went live, so the next brief can learn from it.
- 04What it will not show: paid ad performance, since Creaiter does not manage ads, and backlink audits, which are not part of the product.
When numbers look wrong or missing
Analytics data is late by design. Before assuming something is broken, check the clock.
- 01Search Console usually runs two to three days behind. Yesterday being empty is normal.
- 02GA4 needs time to process, so today's numbers stay incomplete until the next day.
- 03Search Console keeps roughly sixteen months of history. Anything older is gone at the source and no tool can recover it.
- 04A brand new property has no past. Connecting it today does not backfill last year.
- 05If you linked the wrong property, disconnect and connect again with the right one rather than trying to interpret the numbers.
- 06If the dates line up, the property is right, and Google shows data that Creaiter does not, contact support with the property name and the date range you expected.
