How to Write and Publish Your First Post
Written and checked by The Creaiter team
This is the whole loop: research a keyword, brief the chat, get a draft, edit it with the SEO score watching, approve it, and publish. Nothing moves to your site without your approval, so you can walk the steps once without risk.
The publishing step at the end needs your site connected. If it is not connected yet, everything before it still works and you finish by moving the text across yourself.
Step 1: Pick a keyword you can win
Do not start with a topic you like. Start with something people search for that you have a real chance of ranking for. Ask the chat for research rather than ideas. With a search data provider connected, it can pull real keyword data and check where you currently rank, which is the difference between a shortlist and a guess.
- 01Ask for keyword ideas around a topic, with search data attached, not just a brainstorm.
- 02Ask which of them you already rank for on page two, because those are usually the fastest wins.
- 03If Search Console is connected, say so and ask the chat to use your own query data.
- 04Pick one keyword with clear intent. How to clean suede boots is a post. Boots is not.
- 05Tell the chat which one you picked, so everything after this is anchored to it.
Step 2: Turn the keyword into a brief
A brief is the difference between a usable draft and a generic one. Give it in the chat, in a few sentences. You are not filling in a form.
- 01Who the reader is and what they already know.
- 02What the post has to make them able to do by the end.
- 03Roughly how long, so you get an article rather than an outline.
- 04The angle you want, and any angle you specifically do not want.
- 05Anything that must appear: a product mention, a particular example, a link to a related page.
- 06Ask for the outline before the draft. Fixing a wrong structure costs one sentence now and a full rewrite later.
Step 3: Generate the draft
Approve the outline, then ask for the full draft. Generation runs on the AI provider key you connected, so speed depends on the model you chose.
Read what comes back with a red pen, not a rubber stamp. Two things to check every single time: facts and voice. If a statistic appears without a source, cut it or verify it, because models produce confident numbers that are not real. If the writing does not sound like you, say exactly how it is off and ask for another pass rather than repairing every sentence by hand.
The draft lands in your content repository with a status of draft. Nothing leaves the building at this stage.
Step 4: Edit, and watch the SEO score
Creaiter scores the post for SEO while you edit, so feedback arrives as you work instead of after you publish. Use it as a checklist, not a target.
- 01Fix what the score flags that is genuinely missing, like a thin title or a keyword that never appears in the body.
- 02Ignore any suggestion that would make a sentence worse. A high score on unreadable copy is a loss.
- 03Check the headings actually describe their sections, since headings are what a reader skims.
- 04Read the whole post out loud once. It catches what a score cannot.
- 05Edit inside Creaiter rather than in a separate document, so the version that publishes is the version you fixed.
Step 5: Approve it
Content moves through an approval step before it can publish. That exists so nothing surprises you or your client, and it is worth using properly even when you are the only person involved.
Approving is a decision, not a formality. Before you approve, confirm the title is the one you want on the page, every claim about your business is true, and nothing is left in brackets waiting to be filled in.
If someone else signs off on content, this is the handoff point. The status makes it obvious what is sitting and waiting on a human.
Step 6: Publish or schedule
With a site connected, publishing happens from the chat. Say where it goes and when.
- 01Publish now if the post is ready and you are around to check it.
- 02Schedule it for a date and time if you are batching work, and the status changes to scheduled.
- 03Open the live post in a browser once it lands and check the formatting, the title, and every link.
- 04Come back in a few weeks and ask the chat how it performed. With GA4 and Search Console connected, the answer comes from your data, and the next brief gets better because of it.
