Buyer guides / Free AI marketing tools

Most free AI marketing tools are not free. Here is how to tell which ones are.

Free has at least five meanings in this category, and they behave very differently three months in. This page sorts them, names the tools that genuinely cost nothing, and explains exactly what Creaiter's free early access is and is not.

We build Creaiter, one of the tools covered below, and this guide is published by that team, so apply to our own pricing section the same skepticism you would apply to any vendor writing about itself.

Searching for free AI marketing tools returns a lot of results and very few free tools. The word covers a trial that ends, a free tier that caps you at the exact moment you get value, a free plan funded by upsells, an early access period that will be priced later, and a genuinely free utility from a company that makes its money elsewhere. Those are not variations on a theme. They are different products.

The cost of getting this wrong is rarely the money. It is the migration. You build a process, load your data, teach a teammate, and then discover the limit sits exactly where your usage does. Knowing which kind of free you signed up for is most of the skill here.

So this guide sorts the kinds, names the tools that cost nothing at all and always have, and then explains Creaiter's own free early access in plain terms, including the part where pricing will exist later.

The five kinds of free AI marketing tools

Before signing up for anything, work out which of these you are being offered. Product pages rarely say it in one sentence, but the answer is always somewhere in the terms.

Only the last one is free in the way the search query means. The fourth, which is where Creaiter currently sits, is the easiest kind to describe dishonestly, so we are specific about it further down this page.

  • Free trial: the full product, a fixed number of days, then a card. Honest, and finite.
  • Free tier: permanent but capped. Read the cap, because the cap is the entire product decision.
  • Freemium with upsells: the core is free, the parts you came for are not.
  • Free early access or beta: the full product, no charge, priced later. Free now, not free forever.
  • Genuinely free: costs nothing, always has, because the company earns its money somewhere else.

The tools that genuinely cost nothing

If you are early and short on cash, start here. These are free utilities from Google rather than marketing products with a catch, and between them they cover most of the measurement and research work small teams end up paying for.

Set up Search Console and Analytics before you buy anything else. A surprising number of paid tools are, in practice, a nicer interface on data you already own for nothing. Once those two are running, you can tell whether a paid tool is adding analysis or just adding color.

None of them write for you, and none of them handle email, social or publishing. That is where AI tools earn their keep, and it is where the question of what free means comes straight back.

  • Google Search Console: the queries you appear for, your position on each, clicks and impressions. Free, and the only source for that data.
  • Google Analytics: what visitors did after they arrived, which pages held attention, which converted. Free.
  • Google Trends: relative interest over time, useful for seasonality and for checking whether a topic is rising or fading. Free.
  • Google Keyword Planner: search volume ranges and related terms, inside an Ads account. Free to use, though the ranges get more precise once you are spending.

What Creaiter's free early access actually means

Creaiter is in free early access. That means the entire product, no credit card, no feature gates: keyword research, SERP rank tracking, content writing with live SEO scoring, campaign planning, email with segments and journeys and unsubscribe handling, social drafting and scheduling, publishing to WordPress, Wix, Vercel or a custom site, and reporting with Google Analytics 4 and Search Console connected.

It is not free forever, and we are not going to call it that. Two paid tiers are planned, Pro at $29 and Business at $99. Neither is purchasable today. When pricing goes live, the early access terms change, and we would rather you read that here than discover it later.

It is also not a free trial. There is no countdown running against your account and no card sitting on file waiting to be charged. The honest framing is that the product is new, we want people using it and telling us what breaks, and free is what we are paying for that feedback right now.

How to evaluate a free tool without losing a quarter

Free removes the money risk and leaves the time risk, which is the expensive one. A few habits keep that risk small.

The last habit matters most. Content is portable, contacts are portable if the tool lets you export them, and configured automations are not. Automations are the thing you rebuild from scratch, so build them last.

  • Find the limit before you find the value. If there is a cap, locate it on day one.
  • Check whether you can export your content, contacts and data if you leave.
  • Ask what happens when free ends: a price you can see, or a price to be announced?
  • Test the one job you actually need, not the path the demo walks you down.
  • Do not move your email list until the tool has survived a month of real use.

Where free stops being enough

Free tools are excellent at measurement and research and weak at anything that involves sending, publishing or scheduling on your behalf. Nobody gives away infrastructure that costs them money per message, and AI generation costs money per request. If a tool is free and does both, it is either early, or capped, or something else is paying for it.

Working out which of those three it is tells you how long it will stay free. Creaiter is in the first category, and says so on this page rather than in a footnote.

Before you commit to a free tool

  1. 01Which of the five kinds of free is this, in the tool's own written terms?
  2. 02Where exactly is the usage cap, and what happens when you reach it?
  3. 03Is a credit card required now, later, or never stated anywhere?
  4. 04Can you export your content, contacts and reports on the way out?
  5. 05Is future pricing published, or is it unannounced?
  6. 06Does it do the one job you came for, or only the ones next to it?
  7. 07Have you set up Search Console and Analytics first, since both cost nothing?
  8. 08How much rebuild work would leaving cost you in three months?

Creaiter fits if

  • Solo marketers and founders testing whether an AI marketing chat fits how they work
  • Small teams who want the full feature set now and can accept that pricing arrives later
  • People willing to send feedback about what breaks, which is the point of early access
  • Anyone on WordPress, Wix, Vercel or a custom site who wants writing and publishing in one place at no cost today

Look elsewhere if

  • Anyone who needs a guaranteed permanent free plan. This is free early access, not free forever, and we cannot promise a free tier after pricing launches.
  • Anyone who needs paid ads created, managed or optimized, or backlink auditing. Creaiter does neither, at any price.
  • Enterprise buyers who need single sign-on, granular permissions and a signed contract before rollout.
  • Teams who need a full sales CRM with pipelines, deal stages and rep assignment.
  • Anyone whose current free stack already works. Google's free tools plus one writing tool is a legitimate answer.

Common questions

Is Creaiter free forever?

No, and we will not describe it that way. It is in free early access, which means the whole product costs nothing today and paid tiers are planned. Pro at $29 and Business at $99 are not purchasable yet.

Is this a free trial?

No. There is no time limit counting down on your account and no card required. It is an early access period on a new product, and it ends when pricing launches rather than on a per-account clock.

What are the genuinely free AI marketing tools?

For measurement and research, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Google Trends and Google Keyword Planner cost nothing and always have. Set those up first, whatever else you decide to buy.

Why give the whole product away right now?

Because Creaiter is new and pre-launch, and the fastest way to find out what is wrong with it is to have people use it. Free early access buys us feedback. That is the trade, and it is also the reason the offer will not run indefinitely.
